Does a power cable need sealed? Indoor > Outdoor

If running a cable from a fused switch, to an outside light, once cable exits the outer wall, does the space around the cable need to be sealed or is it ok to be left as is?

Put a loop in the cable to prevent water tracking in side but I would then seal with mastic

Sorry for late reply. Already been installed by a spark and I quizzed him on this, by where the reply was it didnt need done.... I am not convinced for the very reason above.
