very very small 12V DC- mains inverters wanted

I am looking for a very small inverter to power upto a 20W load

I have seen this item on sale on ebay but I have my doubts weather or not it is fit for purpose

It says output voltage 220v and out put current 500mA, so am i correct in thinking it 110W (220v X 0.5A)

Also I heard somewhere ells that typical inverters cut out when the input power drops below 10V, anyone know if this is true or not?

With my small 120 watt inverter yes it auto switches off if the voltage drops, it also gives out a simulated sine wave which is not really a sine wave at all, there are three outputs zero, + and - which it alternates between giving an average of 230 volt but not in a true sine wave, most items seem to run OK but not all.

Since the advert uses some strange language to describe the produce one can't really say what this unit does.

What sort of load are you planning to power with this inverter-some cheap ones don't like inductive loads (wall wart power supplied etc)?

Mixer, or mixer with built-in power amps? If the former, the load won't vary that much. If the latter, it may - depending on the type of music.

If preamps only then it may or may not work (switch mode psu will prob be ok, proper wirewound may struggle & be noisy).

Buy one off your favourite tat bazaar that offers returns. Try it. If it works great. If not then send it back & try another one

Do I asume you have tried it with your existing inverter and found there is an issue?

I find the opposite is true, SMPStend to stumble and stall on modified sine wave and the additional noise coming out of them

My current inverter is 150W so uses to much power and cuts off when plenty of life still in battery so want something small. but I have read somewhere ells that these inverters cut off when the battery getts below 10V anyway

next question is what dose PSU stand for? would this stop the inverter cutting out at 10 volts?

What powers the mixer? If it already uses a lower voltage power supply then swap that for a DC-DC convertor. You can get universal laptop supplies that have a wide range of voltages and connectors.
