Well. Considering the majority of passengers were Iranian I would think so

Incompetence and s**t Russian equipment

Wonder what spin the Iranians are going to put on it to explain the crash :sneaky:

Maybe they'll use the same excuse the US gov't used when they shot down that Iranian civilian passener jet over the Persian gulf on 3rd july 88 , killing all 290 onboard, which inc 66 children :?:

"When questioned in a 2000 BBC documentary, the U.S. government stated in a written answer that they believed the incident may have been caused by a simultaneous psychological condition amongst the eighteen bridge crew of Vincennes, called "scenario fulfillment", which is said to occur when persons are under pressure. In such a situation, the men will carry out a training scenario, believing it to be reality while ignoring sensory information that contradicts the scenario. In the case of this incident, the scenario was an attack by a lone military aircraft"

 beari ng in mind that prior to. That incident a US naval. Vessel. Was hit by an Iraqui missile fired by an Iraqui jet fighter

Saddam probably had the pilot shot???

'Prior to that' being of course more than a year earlier...

And an A300 transmitting on a civilian frequency is so similar to an F-14 when targeted by the most sophisticated US vessel of it's type at the time

And being illegally in Iranian waters doesn't exactly help the argument!

At a time of heightened tension these things happen.
Same thing happened with the Malaysian plane in Ukraine.
In the old days 2 armies would meet on a battlefield somewhere and fight it out.
Nowadays everywhere is the front line. I read somewhere that since the industrialisation of warfare, WW1 was the last war were the majority of casualties were military, apart from the Falklands war that maybe true.
