I have a Potterton Promax HE plus 15/2. I have recently had a water leak which was fixed by a Baxi engineer. He found the gas pressure at the boiler to be 15mbar. The gas pressure at the meter is 22mbar. I have been told the gas pressure at the boiler should be at least 17mbar, the manual says 18.1. The boiler is situated in the kitchen a short distance from the meter, just the other side of the wall. The pipe work that comes in is 22mm but 15mm at the boiler. The pipe size is reduced close to the boiler.

The meter is new and was changed in early January last year just before I bought the house.

The house is 15 years old.

My questions is – is it definitely a blockage in the pipe work causing the low gas pressure or could it be something in the boiler – like the gas valve filter?

Could be a blockage, could be too much restriction in the pipe (eg bends), could be the meter regulator - Did the Baxi engineer state which pressure was 22mbar? Working or standing?

working pressure. A gas board engineer has been out and check the meter - he is happy there is no problem at the meter.

Is it possible to clean a gas pipe to clear it from a blockage or do you just have to change pipes?

Whereabouts on the boiler is the pressure tapping point? Near the pipe entry, so tells you the pipe loss, or further downstream after eg a valve?
