Cellulose paint

Im looking at spray painting my motorcycle fairings with cellulose paint and have a couple of questions;

1. Does cellulose paint contain isocyanates?

2. Can anyone recommend a suitable mask to use with cellulose paints/thinners.

I do work with 2K paints (otherwise know as acid cat) from time to time, AFAIK cellulose does not have any isocyanates (expanding foam however does).

When I work with spray paints I normally wear a mask with 28 day ABEK charcoal filters. You wont be able to smell anything. However with the likes of isocyanate based paints you should have a clean air supply mask.

If you are working in a confined area you might want a full face mask and disposable boiler suit with hood.

If you were doing this day in, day out I would recommend a clean air supply and dedicated spray booth.

Get the safety data sheet for the product.
Google can normally find these if you type in “(exact name of product) safety data sheet”.

No, Cellulose does not contain isocynate. Neither does truckcoat, nor Polyurethane - both of which are options for your MC fairings.

As above, any properly fitted charcoal & filter combo will work, air fed mask is only required for 2k (as isocyante is also absorbed through eyes and nose too)

I used to be stoopid enough to stand outside spraying 2K paints whilst smoking. To be fair I used to hold my breath as much as possible.

The stuff is evil on your lungs but other than that it is great to work with. It dries so quickly that it if you make a mistake you can sand it back and recoat after an hour or so.
