Removing second light switch in bedroom?

Hi

I'd like to remove a second light switch for the ceiling light in my room as it's right up high on the wall and useless really!

I've attached photos of the main switch by the door, and the three wires of the other switch (sorry I unwired it thinking that would work and forgot what went where)

On the main switch can I just hook it up like a normal one way switch, red to COM and black to L1 and keep the earth connected to the socket case?

Then if I just disconnect the grey, brown and black wires at each end then the second switch would be disconnected and it would just be a cable in the wall between the switched that wasn't live right?

Am I allowed to do this?

I will be filling the hole where the second switch is and I'm worried about leaving wires in the wall, although I'm almost sure they won't be live which is why I'm checking.

Yes.

You can of course use the current switch as a 1 way switch.

Thanks and if I disconnect the other wires, which in presuming only run between the main switch and the second switch, this will just be a dead wire in the wall? And is it legal for me to do this and to fill the old socket so it's hidden

Yes.

Put all four wires into one connector block - i. e. connect them all together.

Thanks, can I ask why I need to put them all in a connector box if they are dead? Can I not just cut them where they enter the main switch?

So that they cannot be used for anything and anyone who comes across the wire along its route can test and see that.
