Banging Noises In House

I am constantly hearing what I can best describe as thumping in my house.
It sounds like it's coming from the ceiling but can't pinpoint exactly.
It's a new build house I moved into last September but have only started hearing these banging sounds since about 4 weeks ago.
I thought it was the neighbours at first but it's not.
The bangs are often in a pattern as well.
2am the other morning I timed it. 4, 5, or 6 bangs every 2 mins. Sometimes really loud.
It sounds like someone is upstairs banging.
It isn't timber expanding or contracting or pipes knocking as they wouldn't make that sound.
Just typing this now it's been banging pretty much non stop.
I have no clue what it is or where it's coming from.
Any help or info welcome.
It's driving me mad!

This was in a customers house in the bedroom, it was turned on. I did not dare open it.

The first floor the noise is less, third floor is barely noticeable.
It's more noticeable when downstairs, but sounds like it's coming from upstairs, but going upstairs it sounds like it's coming from downstairs!
Which makes me believe it's coming from above the ceiling/beneath the floor.
It's really difficult to pinpoint.

Nothing in the loft. The loft in 3 floors above and can't hear the banging here.

Put it down to a couple of religious cranks involved in some type of intimate perverse ceremony
