Hi,

hope someone can help me. We had a new conservatory and I disabled and removed the PIR sensor in there. Today the electricians came and wired up the lights etc in the conservatory and they turned the power off.

This evening I reconnected a new PIR Sensor in the conservatory went to do a walk test and none of my PIR sensors were working. Checked them and the red led lights are not on.

So far I have checked.

1. All the fuses in the control panel and the fuse spur underneath all okay.
2. Measured the 12v wires on each PIR sensor and they are getting 2.5v (which seems wrong)
3. Double checked I have wired the new one up.
4. Alarm battery is okay and getting 13.8v
5. Transformer is outputting 20.5v AC
6. Traced the 12v green/white wires back to the control panel and measured the voltage from the terminal and it shows 2.5v.

I can not remember the last time I saw the PIR sensors flash red but we went out yesterday and set the alarm okay. Now today when I set the alarm the 4 red lights light up for 1-4 sensors but instead of the usual exit beeps I just get 4 beeps repeated.

So as far as I can tell the 12v output terminals from the control panel are outputting 2.5v not 12v ? Does this look like the problem and it needs a new Control Panel ? Is there anything else I can test.

Thanks for any help in advance.

glass fuses in the panel? how did you test them?
Battery voltage isn't necessarily an indication of good battery condition

if you remove the cables from the Aux power + and - and measure the power outputted what do you get?

Fuses tested with a multimeter and replaced them all just to make sure.
Battery was replaced 4 weeks ago so its brand new and tests fine with multimeter.

Also tested power regulator after transformer and it shows just over 12v but not sure whether thats correct.
Found out my 4 beeps from the keypad confirm an error with Zones 1-4 which relates to it cant detect the PIR Sensors as they have no power, or not enough.

Will try the last thing you suggested with the Aux 12V tomorrow but I dont think it will make a difference I tested the actual AUX terminals from the screws and it was 2.5v not 12v. Which matches each PIR tested on the 12v terminals showing 2.5v.

what size is the battery in the panel, how long was the power off.

you can disconnect the battery and try without the battery connected, is the battery warm to touch or hot, or no real difference.

I am expecting your going to tell me the battery is 2Ah or less and the power was off for over 4 hrs. (don't know what the current draw is on your panel and the condition of the battery or its size).

Seen new batteries fail on panels like the Veritas during a power cut/ mains turned off, because there is no protection for the battery as such, so a new battery can be killed off.

If we had been called out to have a look, we would have checked the battery based on what you said with an ACT battery tester, we would also look at testing fuses etc like you have already done, for the time it takes to get a more accurate picture of the problem at hand.
