I am wondering if anyone has a good idea of what I should expect to pay to relay my driveway. It is about 40 square metres

I laid it seven years ago. I put a good concrete edge round all sides and that is still in perfect condition so the levels are fine. I put down about 200mm of type one, wacked it down, put a layer of sand and then block pavers.

I did not take out enough subsoil and over the years it has sunk by about 100mm where the car goes and slightly in other areas.

I’d like the whole lot lifted and re-laid level. I don’t think I have to energy to do it again, (I’m now 73 which feels very different to 66 when I lid it). I’ve removed one section and replaced it with decking so have about 9 square meters of spare blocks if they are needed.

I’ve had two quotes, £300 and £2800.

I’m in Glasgow. Does anyone have an idea of a fair price?

Get more quotes, £300 is too cheap and I take it £2800 is for a complete new drive?

I agree £300 is too cheap. The £2800 was to reuse the existing blocks. He was a chancer. He said he would put a membrane under the blocks so no weeds would grow (they grow in the said between the blocks) I'd like to have an idea of a fair price.

I used to charge around £25 m2 for a pick up relay with sand only . 2016, so not long ago

If the base needed work that would depend on what was required.

For you with 200mm of base ,I'd say its settled now so should be fine .

So around £5-800 should be about right,
It's a days work maybe 2 for weather for 2 men plus materials.
