Been trying to get hold of some of the ever popular grey mixed size Indian sandstone for a patio. Only just become aware of the “sawn edge” stuff which is presumably pricier and even more elusive.
Anyone done one of these recently, does the sawn look massively better? Images on tintyweb all look the same to me, can’t really tell. Planning on jointing with the black brush in stuff.

Worth having a look at this (admittedly a bit biased) video before buying.

Dunno. As I understand it “sawn” = like a tile, sharp straight edge.
In that case dead straight edges look crap with a riven surface, but I suppose its in the eye of the beholder

I had trouble with the joints in mine so would prefer sawn edges with sawn or riven top (assuming the sawn edges make the slabs accurate sizes).

I don’t reckon they will be, I reckon the stones are always a bit irregular sized
I seem to recall you posting on here about yours and it looking good, got a link/pics?

I’m not sure you can make out the dodgy joints but you can see our midget cat :)

Looks good. (And the patio) (y)
Can’t see an issue with the joints, guess you mean due to the sizing where several smaller stones don’t equal a bigger one etc ... you’ll always get a bit of varied joint size

I’ll take a picture tomorow but there were upto 20mm variance on the slabs so they took some tweeking to get looking half decent.

There’s a massive one to the right on here:

No, they were 22mm thick but slightly different lengths

That was the worst, should have been a 290mm but it was 265mm

Gotcha. Looks good though and no different to any others I’ve seen, you’ll always get that varied joint width I reckon. Don’t think I’ll bother with the sawn

Same bother with the last one i did 5 different sizes of stone I’m sure it was a stone market pack but aye the joints were a bit all over the place
