Hi

I am having a nightmare getting my hands on the above for my Drayton TRV's. I am informed by Drayton that these valves are over thirty years old and are no longer supported!!! The plastic caps I have purchased (before I received the above news) are approx. 30mm in diameter. However, the TRV's measure approx. 27mm in diameter. Drayton suggest using a small C clip to hold the valve shut but I have no clue what they mean by that??

I tried screwing down the brass nut inside the cap as was suggested on another site but when I opened the thread it was still at full pressure. It's an upstairs radiator so I really cannot afford to lose too much water!

Suggestions very gratefully received.

Thank you in advance.

Forgive me if this is an obvious question, but have you turned the lockshield off as well. With both valves closed, release pressure at the vent screw. If removing the rad, put a cap on the trv outlet as the Drayton valves only go down to a frost setting. Shouldn't be a problem at this time of year but it will then allow you to remove the head if you want to.

Thanks chaps. Much appreciated. I’ll give it a go. If it was downstairs I wouldn’t be as worried.

Cheers.
