If the masks don't meet NHS stringent standards, they should be made available to the general public now that masks are mandated in most scenarios.

Sell them to the general public (at a vast profit). My local chemist was selling ffp1 masks at £15 for 2 a couple of months ago. Shocking.

this prompted me to check my ebay history.

In January, I heard about this new respiratory disease in China. I had a vulnerable family member. So, just as a precaution, I bought twelve bottles of Purell for £13.50; 500ml of alcohol for £5.69, a box of 100 surgical facemasks for £11, and a box of 20 fold-flat FFP2 builders masks for £16, and a box of alcohol wipes. Already had plenty of blue gloves. Still got plenty of stuff. It wasn't even a panic buy.

Certainly our government didn't, or they would have placed orders before the factories started to close.

I didn't really believe it would turn out so serious, and I can tell hardly anybody did, or prices would have changed sooner.

are you buying anything in preparation for chaos in January, I see there is talk of people stockpiling (although that disadvantages the poor who cant afford it)

Every time a Brexit date gets announced (I think we're on the fourth now?) I've topped up the cupboards. There were lockdown shortages too.

Plenty of dried goods (I managed to get some dried egg, as although there are plenty of farms round here they used to be geared to wholesale and catering customers. During lockdown they discovered farm-gate retail, so now I can get eggs, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic from the farm). My milk is delivered from a local dairy farm.

Prescription medicines and over-the-counter remedies.

Some cash.

Bog rolls.

Cleaning products.

Unused stock goes to the food bank while still in date.
