When do you perceive we can get back to 'normal'?
We'll probably have another national lockdown before Christmas, then maybe another one before vaccines start being distributed in the spring. Summer 2021 would be my guess as a start. We might be most of the way back to normal by Christmas 2021.

All guesswork of course.

If it carries on till Christmas 2021 my guess is that 'normal' will be the sort of post apocalyptic existence we see in Mad Max films. I might start stocking up with diesel.

Guesswork indeed...

There has been no effective corona vaccine to date and that goes back many years!

Would you be prepared to have a barely tested jab?

There's never been a pressing need to have one.

Why wouldn't you have a vaccine that's gone through the usual testing?

How can we get on with life if the NHS due to cuts can't operate both a full service and manage the pandemic.

If you want to carry on as normal then the Government needs to manage the pandemic better instead of blaming the public due to mixed messaging and improper contracts.

The public are in part to blame, I see it everywhere I go - people ignoring the rules.

Are you saying that in Labours heyday the NHS would manage a pandemic and carry on as usual with routine operations as if nothing had changed? That's being a bit fanciful don't you think.

Well there was more capacity and investment so they would have handled it better unless they gave contracts to their mates and let someone like Dido run the system. Splurged £12bn on Testing and £10bn on PPE and here we are.

This is an ooportunistic and corrupt bunch. I gew up under Thatcher and John Major - you could disagree with their policies but they were leaders and not mouthpieces of someone behind the scenes pulling the strings like Cummings Wormtongue.

We should take the Swedish approach

And have done with

Simples

Shut up. Sweden is the worst example to use. Seriously why do stupid RW put forward Sweden as an example when its performing worse than other Scandinavian countries.

Vaccines take 10-12 years to be properly developed and tested, not 18 months.
Theres never been a rush before. And 5 years is the lower end, not 10. It's amazing how much time you can save if you throw unlimited money at a problem.

It's probably just as amazing how much time can be saved if the regulatory bodies and ethics committees are waiting on your call.

There's no fundamental reason vaccines have to take that long, just economics.

A bit out of date that... those in the know are increasingly talking about Sweden as the long term way to deal with the virus and maintain economic output.

There are already several effective vaccines in scale up manufacturing. The problem is the side affects. Adverse reactions (not side effects) have been very low during the trials. There is no reason to vaccinate under 50s. The vaccine side effects are likely to cause problems for those most likely to need it.
