I wanted to replace an old Drayton SM2 with something a bit better, the existing room stat is on the blink and the SM2 ticks very loudly. This will probably be the last year for this boiler, so this was only intended to be a short-term fix.

I'm a pretty competent DIY'er, but I think I've bitten off a little more than I can chew. Hoping I can get a bit of help. It's just making sense of the manual really. It's a basic system, but all my experience is with Combi's.

This is what I bought, got it cheap so didn't spend too much time investigating.

For some reason I had it in my head that I'd just be replacing the 5 wires in the SM2, well within my ability, but of course I now realise it's a bit more than that as the existing system also has a separate room stat, which now needs to be taken out of the equation.

Here's a picture of my junction box...

I'd greatly appreciate if anyone could throw me a bone as to what needs to be connected to the new controller to allow me to take the SM2 and existing Room stat out.

Thanks in advance.

I was hoping you'd show up.

It turned out not to be a suitable controller for my awkward system. I think due to it being the v2 Nest with no provision for Hot Water. So I do what I do best, just forgot all about it (until now!)
