It’s not at all clear cut if you look at the details. They are similar to us, Spain, france etc. But it’s hard to make comparisons due to significant geographic and demographic differences.

plenty of sources saying it’s not significantly worse than others. However it’s a vast country.

Those people believing in herd immunity always quoted Sweden as the model....because Sweden never officially locked down.
