Hello all,

Ive had some plastering done in the hallway and also installed a new 6inch door liner. One of my main requirements for the plaster was to ensure the walls where straight, and he reassured me he would add even everthing out.

Unfortunately now that he finished, i went around everything preparation for painting and fitting on the arcitrave and skirting.

The problems I've come across is that two of the wall which happen to be the most exposed, are not straight, the knockout towards the door liner, both the inner and outside.

I intend to install square skirting and worried about the huge gap at the top, it peaks at about 17mm in size.

What do you guys advise i should do in this situation, what are my best options, thanks in advance

17mm difference???
Call the plasterer.
Unless he's followed the frame line which was not plumb.

The door liner is plumb but i guess it would have been better to have installed a 5.5inch liner instead of the 6inch.
He clearly has made the mistake of plastering up level to the door liner insted of making sure the plastering remained straight.

The door liner could have been planned afterwards but now i dont know what to do with it at all.

I think it might be a difficult conversation with the the plasterer

Is there a easy fix?

There was originally a radiator on this wall but going forward i will be changing moving this else where for a upright one hence any obvious blemishes will quite visible

looks like the plaster at the bottom of the wall tapers out.
is this correct?

hack the plaster at the bottom of the wall back until it’s flatter. with a wide chisel or scraper.... obviously below the level of the top of the skirting.
keep offering the skirting up until your happy with it then just bond it to the wall and caulk the small gap your’e left with.

Thanks,

I'll give that a go, i guess that would mean I'd loose the lip of the skirting as it would become buried pretty much into the wall just by the door?

And then I'd most likely need to do the same with the architrave so that where the two meet they remain flush?

no . the top of the skirting should be flush ish to the wall if you remove the right amount of plaster from the bottom
