Help Identifying Part - Vax Rapid Power ECJ1PAV1

Hello,

A part in the brush drive mechanism of my Vax Rapid Power has corroded causing a belt to snap. The bearings have got corroded and seized up, I can't get them moving.

I can't find a replacement or even what it's called. There no serial numbers I can see. Does anyone know what the part is or even where I could get one? Pictures below

Any help much appreciated.

Could be the belt tensioner. £4.99 direct from vac plus postage, but if you email them the photo , they should be able to confirm.

Hi Rob, I'm just in the process of trying to fix my Mum's carpet cleaner which is the same model as you've got (it took a while to get the thing apart!). There was a burning smell when the machine was turned on, but both of the belts are still intact.

Did you manage to find the part you where looking for? I might try replacing that too as although it turns, it's not free flowing as shows signs of rust.

Consider just replacing the bearings, gentlemen?
The bearing code is etched on the bearing face, but it may be difficult to see.

After looking further at Rob's images, I've spotted what's causing the issue on my Mum's machine, the lower 'roller' below the flat belt has burnt/melted away.

Does anyone know what those 'rollers' may be called as a spare part, so I can search for one before having to replace the machine.

Hi All,
I have also an ecj1pav1 model machine which is giving me headaches too, the problem is smoke comes out when it's turned on about 10-15seconds, I have inspected and the belt was worn out.
have replaced two different which bought from online but still the same problem,
what is wrong?

Maybe this is not the right quality belt which I bought, can you attach your belt with the correct number, please?

Although I can’t see why, the problem is of pulley alignment.
The belt needs to run on ‘crowned’ shafts.....that means that the shafts have a slight rise in the middle and the belts ride onto this crown which keeps it central.
You can see the crown on some of the other shots of the white pulleys - maybe yours have worn off?

thanks for reply, is there anyway to fix it or just buy new one?
forgot to register my vax product to extended 6 years warranty and now it is out of warranty 2years warranty gone

From here it looks like the motor drive shaft is out of alignment as the moment you start up the belt starts to cut into the housing.
See if you can move the motor shaft up and down in its bearings which gives a reasonable test.
I’ve no idea on spares availability for this machine, I’m afraid.

I also thought as well, the motor drive shaft was a problem, so far I have wasted 3 replacement belts.

This is a common problem on VAX carpet cleaners - all models.
The belt tensioners seem to be a poor design and not fit for the workload most are subjected to.
The belts aren't the problem - it's the rollers and tensioner assmbley. They end up not rolling, the belt overheats and melts the rollers and then itself.
VAX don't provide spares for these parts and no spares websites will have them.
I've currently got the same problem and am going to use nylon spacers/washers to replace the melted rollers.
Doesn't help your problem particularly, just some background info.
