Teachers not wanting to go to work

FFS don’t mention black japs.
Any word only has derogatory meaning, or not, when used in context.
Black is not inherently offensive, multi-coloured is not inherently offensive.

While we're on the subject, and referring back to a discussion t'other day, concerning my use of the term non-BAME.
At one time there was 'white' and 'non-white' and no-one batted an eyelid, nor asked what was meant by non-white.
White was the dominant culture, the dominant force in politics etc.

Now if I use a term like non-BAME, I am questioned as to what do I mean by non-BAME, and asked to be specific. Well, it's just a reversal of a previous dominant categorisation of non-white.
The use of the term non-white implied a purity of whiteness, and anything other was considered less.
Of course we now know that white is not such a simplistic description, and there are numerous shades and tones of whiteness, and anything other is in no way any the less because of the colour.

FFS why not just call a spade a spade.

It wouldn’t bother me one bit if I was called a Brit, a Tommy, a Limey, a Pom or anything else. It merely identifies my nationality. No different from Jock, Taffy or Paddy. It’s not derogatory. Why is it only when calling 'people of colour' a nationally identifying term that some white people get all uppity about it? I can’t think of any person of colour getting uppity about someone calling me any of the above slang terms.

If you're referring to a horticultural implement, it's normal to call it a spade.
It's all about context, and the nature of the intended reception.
If one intends to cause offence, I'm sure they could do that without resorting to racial slurs, but if not, so be it.
It has often been mentioned that BAME people may use, what might be considered racial slurs, between themselves. But the intention is not to racially offend, nor to categorise a whole culture in a derogatory manner.

So, would YOU consider Brit to be a derogatory term if say an American or Polish person called me it?

For the moment the schools need to close for teaching, But why not use the schools and the teachers to administer the vaccine. They are normally centrally located have good access and plenty of space, teachers could be easily retrained to stick a needle in an arm.

Hmmm

Use the Schools but the teachers will need training as well as making sure they have correct negligence and liability policies. Can teachers take consent and inform patients properly on medical outcomes? You will still need medical staff if someone has a reaction, what about post jab monitoring?

It's always a simple solution you propose and you think people with more understanding and experience haven't thought of it?

What makes some of you think that schools are unable to administer a vaccine?
They have been using schools since before I was born to administer them, they are very well versed in how to manage the giving of injections.
It's not the actual teachers that doo the jabbing, they get a medical professional in for that.

The point isn't using schools or other public places. But use schools at what time? If they are open during the day? Or are we going to vaccinate during the evening and night and weekends?

Some think it;s just a jab in the arm.

We need an army of medical staff to do this - however then we have to accept that whilst the medical staff are doing vaccinations they cant also be dealing with patients or we spread the rollout over a longer period.

Well at least we can then thank the 'virus' for one thing!
At least I’m not using it as an excuse for losing my bottle to carry out something I said I would do but didn’t. Get back in your box you stalker - you only seem to come on here to give a ****tish reply to my posts lately. Has Brexit finally blown your mind?
