Gap in my kick boards

Hello,

I have had a new floor fitted which isn’t as thick as my last floor leaving gaps above my kitchen kick boards/plinths which is causing a draught. Is there a suitable product to fill this gap please? It won’t be seen if it’s on the top edge of the board.

Depending on the gap stripwood might suffice or upvc strip.

If your kitchen is relatively modern you might be able to get matching plinths to fit.

So are your kickboards now slightly lower? Making the gap at the top?
I doubt the gap is that big and you normally can't see the top of the kickboard unless you put your head on the floor.
There is sticky foam tape in various thicknesses that you could fit to the top of the board.
There is also a trim for the bottom of a kickboard to provide a better seal

will the foam stick to the chipboard side edge of the wood please? Do you have any experience of them.

It can't prevent a draft but it can change where the draft is felt by the homeowner. With a gap in the kickboard, the draft will now be coming through there and felt by their feet when in the kitchen. Whatever route the draft was taking before clearly wasn't as obviously felt by the homeowner.

I have no idea, I haven't been to the OPs house. All I was saying that no, kickboards don't prevent drafts but if there is air flow, having a gap in the kickboard now can mean it is being felt more sensitively by feet whilst in the kitchen.

Not tried it for this but normally, the untrimmed and edged side is pointed down. The upper edge may be edged, or not. I'd paint the bare chipboard/mdf with several coats of PVA to seal. The foam is normally very sticky, and your aim is to find one that is slightly bigger than the gap so it is compressed in use.

Must be a typical 2 day installation where they left everything untouched behind the cabinets (leaks, holes, old waste, rat access, live wires, etc.)
