Hello,

Before I call the boiler repair company, can you give me a heads up on what potential issues may be at fault.
Potterton 60e boiler that in the last couple of years has had a new fan and circuit board.
Working fine up to last night, then noticed in the early hours the house was cold.
Checked the thermostat and heating was supposed to be on. Gas cooker working ok so not a supply issue.
Checked boiler and I could hear the fan turning but the boiler was dead. It wasn’t attempting to light the pilot as it does before igniting the main boiler, just fan hear the fan running and nothing else.

When the circuit board was replaced last year, you could hear clicking and it attempting to light.
I was told a relay had burnt out, but this time there’s nothing.

Any pointers appreciated.

Including the original, I got through four circuit boards on my Profile 60e during my ownership. Fairly common I think. Was it a new OE one you used or a pattern/refurbed one? If less than a year, is it guaranteed?

have you tried the over/heat reset button under the boiler ?

I had that pop a few times on mine too. Only when I had the boiler temperature on Max setting though. It did that from new. Perhaps the boiler was too big for my system?

when your boiler was installed it should have been range rated , it can be rated between 50,000BTU and 60,000 BTU it comes set at max, so if doing it from new was pobably set up wrong, they do tend to activate as they get on though, but good boilers very simple and not a lot to go wrong

Judging by the price paid, it was a pattern. The proper boards are a fortune.

Thanks for the suggestion but the button is up. The fan runs as normal, you can see the ignition sparking but the boiler won’t ignite. Just happened all of a sudden.

My last one was an original one - I needed it in a hurry and bought it from a shop two days before Christmas. I think I paid around the £200 mark. A year or so later when I had the boiler changed, I put it on eBay and got over £50 for it!
