What space required between 2* 22mm PEX barrier pipe?

Hi,

Have made a 52mm core hole through an 8 inch brick wall.

I want to run 2 * 22mm barrier pipe through it. I can get both to fit it, but the thought crossed my mind whether there needs to be a certain minimum gap between them?

With both pipes in the hole its pretty tight.

I would rather avoid having to core drill another hole, but if its not recommended to run so close then will have to do.

Most would drill separate holes for two pipes. Usually much quicker.

Plastic pipe does not transmit very much heat through its walls so the only concern could be heat transfer from one to the other.

If I was doing it then depending on what the pipes are for ( as you have not told us ) then I would prefer to put pipe insulation on them as they go through the wall. Not only does that lower heat loss but accommodates expansion and slight movement.

Thanks. They are flow and return central heating pipes. Probably make sense to do another hole then and put the insulation around it like you say.

But I would and commercially time savings by two holes is important.

The next question would be how to block up your 52 hole around the pipes.

I ended up going for the 2nd hole as although i could get both pipes in, it was too tight to manipulate the 2nd pipe to its final destination.

Luckily its through an internal wall (in the void of a false ceiling) so i'll put pipe insulation around it and that will be the hole filled out nicely.
