Hi

I need to add a radiator and move one other in my house. In the past I have used copper pipe, but this time it will be much easier to use plastic barrier pipe.

I will need to run the new speedfit pipes under the floor. I will drill a hole in the joists and feed the pipe through.

Where the plastic pipes run through the holes in the joists, do I need to wrap the pipes in any thing to stop chafing or noise during expansion? Is it best if the holes are a loose or tight fit around the pipes? Any other advice?

Many thanks

Personally, I'd use copper for the tails, then connect to barrier pipe under the floor. Copper has the advantage of looking nicer above floor level, and is more resistant to 'hoover abuse'.

I'd drill the holes in the floorboards using a 16mm hole saw.
