Retro fit trickle vent to slim line window

Hi

Building inspector wants a trickle vent installed in our new extension. Glazing company did not explain this although FENSA registered. I thought it should have been in place as standard but we didnt ask. They have offered to retrofit the vent but will it look terrible seeing as window has slim aluminium frame? Here is a pic and I would be grateful for your input as always!

Did you discuss other options with BC? Could accept ventilation elsewhere .
One option is to stick a vent on and remove once BC has signed off.

It'll look fine if they have enough room to install one. On our aluminium windows vents had to be installed in a separate aluminium header attached to the frame.

We didnt get any drawings. The windows and sliding doors are of good quality and reasonably priced for what they are. But I have never come across trickle vents not being fitted unless we specifically asked them not to.

Heaven forbid if someone stuck a fake vent on the inside/outside and removed it after the inspection.

As long as the inspector doesn't test it out and try closing it etc.

it wasn’t designed with out trickle vents, it was assumed they would be on the fixed window as we didn’t ask for them not on there. Hopefully won’t affect looking sim profile too much on window. To be honest if we are opening sliding doors etc to garden I don’t see point of them. Perhaps winter though…

Just express complete surprise and slag off the window fitters for being completely incompetent if BC susses.

There was no need for FENSA registration I don't think, as it's part of an extension already subject to Building Control.
