How many supersonic passenger jets did the US put into service? While I love the fact that we put men on the moon, I heard Americans say that Concorde was just as much an acheivement as the Apollo missions.

Note that the US and Soviets tried to make supersonic planes, but abandoned them.

Concorde was something that many people actually experienced first hand as well, and not just the super rich.

I say this as someone who spent most of my life dreaming of the day go to see the Saturn 5 in Florida (finally saw it 2010).
