maybe a dumb question, but is buying online from tradepoint open to trade only or also the public, i notice they dont seem to charge delivery versus b&q and it doesnt seem like they ask you any proof of being a trade customer when inputting details online.

thanks

One way to find out is to try it. You may find that when you register they may ask for a confirmation letter on business headed note paper or your business registration number/VAT registration number or something similar.
Alternatively, give them a quick ring and simply ask if they sell direct to the public.

They are supposedly trade only. Why not just place an order and see?

I think they charge for delivery below £100, but it seems to vary. I was invited to join while in the normal queue dressed in my "builder" clothes. I just said I do up houses, I already had some business cards (free sample of 10 from one of those quickprint websites) with "Chris xxxxxxx, Property Services" on and they were happy with that as proof. Also worked with Wickes (10% off everything) and Selco, who are worth checking out if nearby.

To be honest I only used my tradepoint because you could buy one bag of cement at the "bulk buy" price where the public had to buy 5, since they stopped that I only use it now to beat the queues, especially during lockdown. For general stuff you'll save more money if you join the B&Q DIY club (and get your wife to join seperately) they regularly send you money off vouchers (just had a £10 off £30 and two £10 off £50).

That's all I use mine for. I'm sure you can just make up a name and business registration number (vat number not needed) and you get a confirmation almost immediately online. I've never used my actual card (it came about two weeks later) but I put the membership number on the Stocard app on my iPhone and it gives you a barcode. I have all my loyalty cards on there as it saves carrying them around - Halfords, Boots, AA, B&Q, Costa, Nectar, Go outdoors, John Lewis, Tesco, Waitrose plus a few more independent shops.
