Already gone on about the toilet soil pipe too much ... but ... because the best suggested solution is to remove all and connect to new plastic, that is on the other side of the 9 inch wall under the extension, maybe easier to just go straight out the wall and into a new chamber, as the drain runs along the outside of the house.

Inspection chambers are about £50 by the looks of things, and I could dig it myself if it saves a bit of money ... and we'd be sure that there was no leaks too.

Is that a more sensible solution, and maybe not so costly as testing old pipes, then removing, or sleeving, or replacing under walls etc in hard to reach places?

If you go down this route, what are you going to do with the old, now redundant pipe? It'll need capping properly to prevent Rodent ingress and any possible leaking.

Could it just be filled with a dryish concrete mix, it one that won't run down to the main pipe?

It could, not ideal but best of a bad job probably. Have you had anyone look at whats there and the possibility of replacing it under the wall?

Not yet, hoping somebody will come today. If they don't, got another person interested in looking. It seems hard to get people to look at these little jobs!

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. The Good Trades are super busy, and leaving the smaller Outfits to mop up, and then it can be hit and miss who you get. I had a Jobbing Builder, (came recommended), to do a number of bits around my house, couple of new doors, point a historic crack in the Rear Wall, fit a new Fireplace, replace a couple of ceilings and plastering in several rooms. What he did do wasn't good, and I've had to get other parties in to finish.

Dont fancy doing it yourself?
