just because covid vaccines wane quicker than is ideal does not make them worthless

Appreciated, very detailed and will need time to digest, it mentions pizer and side effects in the sub 30 age group, trying to match with our grand children sub 8 yrs of age and from 5.

Most kids have probably had a sniff of it so would have some protection.
They overwhelmingly don't get serious symptoms.
I don't know about incidence of Long lasting effects, but I see no very strong case for a jab.

You could say it doesn't matter much, or rationalise that into "doing nothing for now", being a reasonable option.

Following the European Medicines Agency’s proposal to vaccinate children below 12 with Pfizer vaccines, the Spanish health ministry decided to implement a coordinated vaccination agenda for minors last week.

The EMA concluded that, although children aged 5-11 years only suffer a mild or asymptomatic disease, the benefits of vaccinating them outweigh the risks.

In trials, the vaccine showed 90.7% effectiveness in preventing symptomatic COVID-19. Children will be given two jabs, separated by eight weeks instead of 21 days.

The first batch of 1.3 million Pfizer anti-COVID-19 “paediatric vaccines”

The health ministry will distribute them among the autonomous regions according to their target population as soon as they arrive. The first to be vaccinated will be children at risk and older children aged 10 and 11.

NB: I'm looking for figures for Pifzer/Biotec for vacs fro the 5 to 8-ish group and short term results ie at least 4/8 weeks following the jab. In the UK as per the link I posted from the Guradina today the uK will used "one third dose" for kids 5-11.

Parents and carers of 5 to 11 years olds will be able to book a COVID vaccine for their children today, as the biggest and most successful vaccination programme in NHS history expands again.

Previously but haven't checked date.
Children can get a 1st dose of the vaccine from the day they turn 12. Most children can get a 2nd dose from 12 weeks after they had their 1st dose. If your child has tested positive for COVID-19 and is not at high risk from COVID-19, they need to wait 12 weeks before they can have a COVID-19 vaccine....

These figures increase weekly in all cases even for dose 1 all ages even 80+. people in all ages are wising up. Maybe a bit slowly but they are.

Fact of life having need of hospitalisation even at 30 is no fun. Get into40's and it can take a while to get out, some wont and so it goes increasingly with age. At the top end survival rates are lower. The need to go in has nothing to do with co morbidities. No one gets in just because they have caught covid. Have to wait and see if blood oxygen levels drop to worrying levels. That means pretty severe breathing difficulties. The whole thing is aimed at reducing spread and keeping people out of hospital and reducing treatment time when they are there. Lockdowns were purely about making sure people could get treatment if they needed it. Death is a secondary effect as no treatment would mean a lot more of that. We aren't very good at surviving low blood oxygen levels.

Only thing is that the number of people in hospital with covid keeps increasing. However somewhat under 1/2 of them are being treated for covid. The rest for something else and just happen to have it. In some parts of the country those that need treatment are having an effect on what the hospital can cope with. % of antivaxers or can't be bothered may well be having an effect on that. Sadly there are ethnic aspects. It looks like all sorts are more easily sucked into the fallacies.

Yep. And it turned out all the warnings against it were based on lies by idiots then as well. Some things never change.

BBC reported that 1% of primary aged children are suffering with some form of long covid. 14% of children are still suffering symptoms 15 weeks after infection (more than one term at school).

People who say covid does not affect children are not paying attention to what is going on.

We don't know how it is affected everybody, but if similar to adults, then it can seriously affect a child's future. My friend with long-covid can no longer read, only speak for short periods, is very confused all the time. Not as bad as Kate Garraway's husband, but basically his life as he knew it is over.

Memory and concentration problems are often seen in long-covid patients.
