Fresh looking plaster (even though it might be from 20 years ago) cracking to reveal a strange textured substance beneath which has also cracked. Looks very suspect to me.

That looks like a mesh fibre tape on the plasterboard joint which became popular after asbestos was banned.
Maybe white powdered filler you can see?
Maybe there was an artex skimmed?
Can't tell but go look closer.

Looks like bonding plaster with multi finish over and painted to me.

Bit thick for a skim? Maybe repair or bump taken out?

Go look closer for what exactly...?

If you zoom in really close on that bottom picture, it looks to have these shiny particles in it.

Looking at pictures I can see modern fibre tape that wasn't popular before 2000 as I never ever seen it until 2002 ish so after the asbestos ban. Being that's on the board anything over won't have asbestos.
If I ever see that like in picture Im 99.99% no asbestos.
Looks like modern mesh in picture vs hessian plastering mesh.

Shiny bits maybe vermiculite in the backing plaster. Is that backing bonding plaster?
Why backing plaster being used over board? Is there any white soft layer of artex? Never see backing plaster over plasterboard unless damage repair or leveling out.
People are right to ask but so many modern materials are pictured with a question is the asbestos. Only way is to test but I can't see anything worrying in picture.
One other question. That looks like it could be 2 layers of plaster board?
Plasterboard paper come of the top layer.
The bottom layer could be older plasterboard? Has the hessian sting in I think. Maybe. Old board has that.
Might not be backing plaster. Still no asbestos.
