Now the fun begins

According to media reports, Trump is increasingly being looked on as a dud by some Republicans, including one or two of his previous (big) backers.

No doubt Trump will say this is all fake news ...

Government should let go of it's hold on power and release more to a local level.
The turnout in local elections points to the fact people have little or no faith in their councillors to make any significant difference. Road potholes being one, it's beyond my comprehension why they pay contractors to mend them in such a way they'll be back again two years down the line repairing the same pothole.
Unbelievable Jeff.
And as for the 1 in 100000. Is that every constituency that applies?
I think, as with most things, it's down to juggling budgets and doing what they can with available funding. Public sector depts are often fire fighting cause they don't have the £££ to make truly significant and longer lasting improvements.

So, to your point, instead of being able to properly resurface entire roads, they fill potholes ... again ... and again ... and again.

The problem with local government is it is inefficient and creates a NIMBY culture. Economies of scale are lost.

A little reminder.. Trump was a considered a joker with an outside chance when he won the first presidency. Just saying..

People in the US, i.e. those that used to vote for the fat orange moron, are finally realising what an enormous bell-end he is. It used to be enough that he would say 'foreigners are bad' - and say it out loud, and racists the world over would cheer, but not now.

You'd think the most powerful nation in the world could have a better choice than crazy vs demented. But then the French always have to vote for mediocre to keep the extremists out.

They have often tended to go for older Presidents and presidential candidates in America. We had a period of being obsessed with youth in our leaders.

Wonder how long it takes for the investigations into the biden family to start and the calls for impeachment

Is one MP, for every 100,000 people, a lot?
Depends on whether you believe that MP's reflect the vote of the general public...

If you believe in the undemocratic FPTP system then no...

If you believe in PR then maybe...

In either case pay them £100k with the proviso that they have no other jobs, and that upon leaving office they can have no association/wage from a company that they been associated with in office for at least 5 years!

Centrist does not equate with mediocre. Not in any country.
It's the equivalent of describing left or right- wing as dynamic. It's lazy stereotyping.
