We've just had the artexing flattened and the ceiling skimmed over after a bit of a water leak. We had applied a bit of stain stop to the artex where the water had stained the ceiling before it was plastered. The plasterer recommended we stain stop the whole ceiling again before we emulsion it. Just questioning whether this is necessary on bare plaster as it seems to be difficult to work with since it's so greasy and sticky? Also, wondered whether it would be easy to emulsion over as opposed to bare plaster since it seems to leave a shiny surface.
I'm tempted to go straight in with the emulsion as I can't see the stains coming through as we treated them before plastering.
