Bathroom fan

I'm replacing like for like(no timer) The two wires not used, what is their purpose?

Would they be used for a fan with a timer? The fan is operated by it's own switch outside the bathroom. Many thanks

Yes, the black could be used for a timer - if connected correctly at the other end, and
the green and yellow is (in commonly used terms) an earth wire which the fan does not require.
