You will have most things you need available to you within 15 mins of your home. You can walk, cycle or take public transport or use your car if you wish.

The important things will be closer to you, no need to waste time/money/resources to reach things which could be closer and easier to access.
And what about people “most people” who work outside their zone ? That includes me

People who have family outside their zone ?

I personally like to travel for a day out and have a meal and drinks. So one weekend I’ll be in Liverpool, the next Manchester. I have family all over the uk.

We are allowed 100 days outside our zone apparently. It honestly sounds like a bad idea to me

I appreciate your reply. I’m still forming my opinion

Then you carry on as now.

Have you got a link to that?

"Will Oxfordshire residents need permission from the councils to travel across the city?

No.

Everyone can go through all the filters at any time by bus, bike, taxi, scooter or walking. Furthermore, residents will still be able to drive to every part of the city at any time – but in the future, during certain times of the day, you may need to take a different route (e.g. using the ring road) if you want to travel by car. "

"Will Oxford residents be confined to their local area?

No.

The misinformation online has linked the traffic filters to the 15-minute neighbourhoods proposal in the city council’s Local Plan 2040, suggesting that the traffic filters will be used to confine people to their local area. This is not true.

The 15-minute neighbourhoods proposal aims to ensure that every resident has all the essentials (shops, healthcare, parks) within a 15-minute walk of their home. They aim to support and add services, not restrict them.

For the benefit of Oxford residents, what we are aiming to do is to ensure that areas of the city such as Barton, Blackbird Leys and Rose Hill have all the essential services that areas such as East Oxford and Jericho already have.

Under the traffic filters, residents will still be able to drive to every part of the city at any time – but in the future, at the times when the filters are operating, you may need to take a different route (e.g. using the ring road) if you want to travel by car. "

You conveniently omitted this paragraph:

  • Expanding the resident day passes scheme to include 25 day passes per vehicle per year for residents of Oxfordshire outside the Oxford permit area (with a maximum of one vehicle per person and two vehicles per household) to pass through the filters. Residents in the Oxford permit area, who are most affected by the scheme, would still receive a maximum of 100 day passes per vehicle (with a maximum of one vehicle per person and three vehicles per household).

You conveniently omitted this paragraph:
So you can have have a permit for 100 days when the filters are in operation, if not you can get there by a different route. All good, and not what was claimed...

Unless you can link to something that says you can only visit a different zone for 100 days per year?

Seems like you'll be diverted onto a ring road at certain times that will be standing traffic due to high rise in volume.(this rush hour?) So in effect being a 'prisoner' in your own zone.

But everything you need will be in your own zone, everything will be lovely. #sarcasm.

Do you think you might be over reacting just a little?

Don't know, proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
Being not one to be taken in by glossy brochures I tend to look beyond the opening gambits, can't think why.
