I suspect there will be obstacles in the way but as a government owned business there is much more chance than say fukitso being held to account in the same way simply because their dominance of public sector IT systems would cause wider reputational and contractual problems the government would want to avoid. It's not like G 4 S cocking up at the 2012 Olympics, or London F & R being an easy target at grenfel.

I think Post Office Ltd and Royal Mail might be different entities.It's public limited shareholder company with Kretinsky holding a few shares.

Presume it was retained or not wanted when Royal Mail was privatised.
GPO was massive back in the day when you consider the telecoms were part of it as well. Probably one of the biggest asset strips of all time.

Income Tax (Trading and Other Income) Act 2005, https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2005/5/section/34 position, but this is much more complex than is being reported and if Dan Neidle is the expert they are citing, well he's hardly an independent tax expert. That not to say that claiming the full whack as a business expense is not way off. A bit of jigging around and this could be a deferred loss, which can be off-set.

Given the rise in internet shopping I think the post office has missed out on a huge opportunity to be a receiving hub for parcel deliveries, with thousands of post offices in small towns and villages people could pick up their delivery on their way home from work instead all the stress of non delivery.
My local PO is / was listed as a delivery option, for some amazon purchases.
I say "was", as that option disappeared a few months ago from a regular purchase I make.
Pain in the backside now, having to schedule being in for delivery time slots.
