Water softener not regenerating

Hi

We had a Monarch Midi HE water softener installed a few weeks ago. It worked perfectly for quite a while, but of late we have noticed that our water is becoming harder again. I stayed up one night to see if the automatic regeneration, which is supposed to take place at 2am, occurred - but it didn't.

The chamber is full of salt, so that is not the issue.

Also, if I do a manual regen, it works and the water becomes soft - but for some reason the automatic regeneration is not taking place.

Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so is there an easy solution?

Installation "A few weeks ago" -- Call them back in for advice and rectification of the, apparently, faulty unit.

Suspect from reading the blurb on a supplier site that the 'manual regeneration' is the fast 8 minute mini top up regeneration referred to there and not a 2 am full regeneration, which hopefully is based on metered water usage and not a simple mains timer.

It may be worth sitting down with the full user and installer manuals to see if something has not been set correctly by the installer?

The manual regeneration takes the same length of time as the 2am one - I set it going earlier and it took 60 mins.

Fair enough. So the manual button works but the timer-control system (relay/switch) don't. Still means that you need to...

Call the Supplier Installers back in for rectification of the faulty unit.

EDIT My twin-tank non-electric metered use softener doesn't take that long to regenerate. Probably no more than 10 minutes.
 
What is the actual hardness of the water, according to the test kit

And what hardness setting has been input to the controller?
 
Has as been said talk to installer If no joy assuming it's been installed to M I and registered its got a 7 year warranty.
We have installed a few Monarch softeners only had one problem one arrived without power lead .
Called them gave them serial number part delivered next morning so decent back up.
Only thing I'm not keen on is no paper instruction manual . Q R codes on front so you finish up reading instructions on your phone!

On those occasions when I'm certain it has not automatically regenerated overnight and I've measured the hardness in the morning, the test kit claims that the hardness is 180ppm. After I've done a manual regen, it is allegedly zero ppm.

The softener has been set at 35, i.e. it took 35 drops for the solution to go green.
 
Further to the above, I am slightly surprised that it "only" needed 35 drops - I live in Hemel Hempstead which apparently has some of the hardest water in the country, so I'm a bit surprised that the number of drops, and therefore the setting on the softener, weren't closer to the upper end, which according to the manual is 50
 
I think you ought to test on a hard-water tap, perhaps a kitchen or garden tap that does not pass through the softener.

I would not expect it to regenerate every night. Mine is once or twice a week, when the meter has measured enough water passing through it.
