What textured coating is this?

What is this textured wall coating? It is applied throughout the hall. It doesn’t appear to be paper, feels slightly sticky, and appears to a layer of paint of lumps of plaster. Further, it appears to be inconsistently applied with some areas more densely textured than others.

I want to remove it but not sure if it’s asbestos. Perhaps it’s just best to skim over? All and any advice appreciated.

Looks like artex, which could contain asbestos material, only guarantee would be to have it tested. If you skim over it and it is asbestos containing, then you would have a duty of care to record this.

Artex.
Bark pattern.
Created with a roller.

It's very sugary looking which is perfect example of artex containing asbestos.
Artex that looks like a bag of sugar was mixed in is not a good sign.

Right. I suspected Artex and, given the date of the property, that it may well contain asbestos. I’ll test it anyway.

Any thoughts on how you might deal with it? I’m reading that it’s common to skim over and as it’s already locked in. That said, as Stuckinarut mentions, there’s a duty of care element to consider

Thanks. I thought it may be artex and possibly containing asbestos (which Wayners suspects too).

I’ll get it tested and consider how best to deal with it.

Most of this house had the walls striped of artex.
Took a layer of plaster off as well. I was asked to skim walls.
