Hi guys, I have made a calamitous error self levelling my toilet floor, I gaffer taped a bag to the inside of the soil pipe but completely forgot to remove it before the self level compound set, and now it’s blocked my soil pipe

Does anyone have any ideas how to remove this? I have been at it with a drill to create a weak point prior to chiselling away, however I’m concerned about the pipe work as I haven’t breached through yet.

I have read that spirit of salts may help to loosen this compound, does anyone have any idea if this will work please, or any other ideas to help?

Many thanks

I don’t think self leveller is that hard, especially after just being laid. Maybe use a drain rod with worm screw?

How long is the blocked soil pipe?
John :)
Thanks John for the reply. The concrete is stuck at a 45/90 degree bend, shame it’s not vertical or else it would be easier. I’ve drilled around 3cm deep already, hoping the compound isn’t much further!

If it’s a plastic soil pipe, and the bag’s not that far down, I’d try giving it a solid whack in the middle of the SLC showing at the top with a lump hammer, might unstick it then be able to work it back out

Edit: just seen latest post that it’s on a bend, so forget that. No idea what the idea was in the first place tbh, why’s the bag in there, why’s it so far down, why would you ever let SLC get down a soil pipe.

Bit of a gamble but assuming you can reach the other end of the pipe or inspection chanber bash it through all the way, slc will be soft relatively.

Thanks for the reply. I needed a 400mm drill bit to reach the compound so don’t think I’ll be able to get enough force into the hammer. I’m worried I might ruin the plastic pipe, but worst thing that can happen is a small hole through the plastic pipe that needs to be repaired

If its a standard polypropylene pipe, it won't really stick to it anyway, virtually nothing sticks to polypropylene. Your just gonna have to chip away at it, make some tooling for the job....try forming something from M10 studding etc
