I remember this first time round, everybody came for their free coffee, police, firefighters (I saw an engine parked up and 4 crew get out and claim their coffee) police, Council workers, all the utilities in their hi vis. It is amazing what people will do for a freebie.

Is this for anybody?

It would mean a 45 minute drive, then an expensive parking fee to park in Manchester so I'm not sure it's worth me bothering just for a free coffee.
Now if they included a dohnut too, then I'm on my way :)

It's good to hear people getting free stuff eg waiting in a queue.

I know some agitated people who think it's embarrassing to wait and get something for free.

Someone I know worked in Waitrose canteen the first time the offer was on. A couple turned up twice a day to claim their free drink even though offer was a one drink limit. They came in a Merc and the fuel must have cost more than the drinks

Plumbase used to do free pies on a Friday. Plumbers would travel for miles are get them.

It never made sense to me.

I’ve had a free coffee a few times when I’ve remembered to bring my cup. Don’t think they give cups away too though.

In winter, my local motor factors would bring a buttered roll and a cuppa soup with every order. To get my students a freebie when we had a service one day, I ordered just a gallon of oil. Free roll and soup. Then an oil filter. Free roll and soup. A set of spark plugs, free roll and soup. When I phoned up to order an air filter, the owner said "How many bleedin' kids have you got there today"? I told him five plus me. He sent three more rolls and soup with the next order and said in future, don’t fùck him about, just tell me how many kids I had and he’d sort me out soup and rolls for all of 'em and save on his delivery costs. :ROFLMAO:

Good point, I gave up drinking coffee 6 months ago lol

There was once a time where Morrisons were offering a free jacket potato meal.

Only if you went to the Cafe and mentioned the word "Henry".

At the time it was a brilliant bit of marketing

The other thing Waitrose has done is introduce an area out the front of stores selling plants and other gardening stuff…..what it does is increase the square footage of retail selling space without increasing actual building and it diversifies their sales.

I had managed to persuade my wife to go to Tesco, but she has drifted back to Waitrose, the shopping experience is much more pleasant

To be fair to waitrose they have spotted a market opportunity again...

Catering for old gits who can't afford their heating bill wanting to hang out with similar old gits moaning about those 'immigrants' bringing them their free drinks!

Who then go on to spend over the top in order to avoid those 'immigrants' shopping in other supermarkets ;)
