Labour’s new 'worship tax' could see 1,000 historical buildings close

Good God, we have had 14 years of the Tories screwing the country and we have the tory boys on here saying they want labour out as if everything is their fault

I am no fan of starmer but people clearly have short memories or .....are just tory boys who are hurting and will be for at least ten years

Hopefully labour and the liberals will join up , form a new middle ground party and keep the Tories and the reform nutters out for years and years
I'm not a Tory. I've never voted for the Conservatives.

How long should we prop up a decrepit state organisation that's increasingly out of touch with the population and trying to hold onto a position that is no longer tenable. Funding churches that house more pigeons than people for sentiment alone is a mugs game.
We could provide all the support and services these churches do without having to prop up God and his churches

I know all those places but only to visit. Tunbridge Wells is good for shopping. I used to go clubbing in East Grinstead as a young un, I can't remember the name of the place off the top of my head or if it is still there for that matter. Is the Cherry Tree pub still going in Copthorne?

Ah yes good old Martines night club in East Grinstead, it was upstairs at the Whitehall building which was once the Whitehall Palace theatre (until it was bombed in 1943)

Martines closed and Martells took it over and all the floors are now a department store of sorts.
Was the Broadway pub open when you were going to EG?

Yes the Cherry tree pub is still going, it’s a bit of a gastronomic pub now with a lovely garden.

The Hunters Moon on the same road closed a long time ago, it was converted to flats (I got the contract to do the internal cabinetry for it)

So what party do you want running Britain if it's not labour or the conservatives ?

I am a moderate liberal voter but mostly vote Labour to keep the Tories out

If you think labour need kicking out already then who would you want ?

What about Islam, or other religions. Should we support those ?
If I had a choice no , I think all religion is nonsense

But this is a pathetic story from the right wing press trying to appeal to voters suggesting labour wants to crush Christians and turn us all into Muslims

It's nonsense

If you hate labour .......who do you want

If we could have a country ruled by independent , moderate MPs then that would be great

But until then if you don't like labour and are not a tory then who do you tend to vote for?

The ironic thing is, under a labour government more people will be praying than ever!

You couldn’t make it up.
The ironic thing is this is nonsense

You clearly are boarding social media with right wing rubbish

Don't you get bored ?

This country is definitely under attack. These buildings are historic and part of our heritage. I go to different churches too, many of them are community places for people to meet regardless of religion.

Every time Labour do something, I think it is the last straw. I couldn't despise them more. Get them out.
Rubbish

No not that club, the one on the high street which you entered by going down the stairs I think, this was in the 90s. I can't remember the name at all and I have tried to quickly Google it. It'll come back to me.

I don't remember the Broadway Pub. I know the Waitrose though.

The Cherry Tree was always a lovely pub, I'm glad to hear it is still going. I've had a few good NYE in there. It was always a problem to get back from, cost a small fortune in taxi fares I seem to recall. The Hunters Moon, hmm... not ringing bells but I'm going back a bit, my memory is a bit vague.

as usual its Daily Express bolox

there wont be any need for any historical buildings to close...........the government package announced for 2025/26 is hardly any different to the amount that was claimed in the previous years budget

Most projects are below £5,000

Sir Chris told MPs while £42m was available for the scheme last year, only £29m was claimed.
He said 94% of applications since the scheme was introduced have been below £25,000, and more than 70% below £5,000.

Good God it's hard work on here , social media seems to be over run with these clowns who just lift utter nonsense and post it without any sort of nuance

I am in total agreement with you but it's like trying to hold back the tide with a paintbrush
