Another thread arguing about the value of vaccines (Ed.)

so your talking about vaccines that were miraculously developed in months then but over many many years as is the norm
The norm is long because of financial constraints

Govts threw money at covid vaccine allowing testing, manufacture development and certification to all be done concurrently.

The principle on which covid vaccines were made - "plug and play" - was being developed for more than a decade before the 'rona was even a thing.

Even then (and with effectively unlimited funds to run R&D, trials etc in parallel, rather than glacially and linearly, and punctuated with grant application and approval delays), the vaccines didn't come out for almost a year into the pandemic.

Rushed, you say?
@gas112

#115.

No wonder you're drowning.

all this covid talk is bringing back memories of how dangerous it must have been
a gasman couldnt work all alone in a house on a building site
But could work in a dozen occupied houses in a day coming into contact with dozens of people several hundred a week
Priorities of keeping people warm and safe.

Easily explained to most

Anti vaxxers always do.

Anti vaxxers never seem to have any elderly relatives or know anybody that got real sick from covid.

It’s funny how anecdotal evidence always supports the beliefs of the person…….
Not 1 of them remembers Boris being taken into hospital.

which was contrary to the rules about working in occupied properties
Safety and essential work in occupied properties.

And even then you had every right to refuse under health and safety rules if you thought the risk was too high

I'll level with you. I've stopped reading your posts on this thread. Your opinions are compromised. Feel free to keep churning them out, I'm not paying any attention but I'm sure your little online chums will clap to the sound of your bulls**t.
Bulls**t you say.

Ironic

I cleared my workshop out recently. I had boxes and boxes of unused face masks, bottles of anti bacterial handwash and sanitizer, a dozen or so full face shields, some PP3 masks, an oximeter and an infrared digital thermometer. Gave them all away to friends and relatives apart from the thermometer and oximeter.

I hope they said thank you.

You’ve contradicted yourself there.

They had the choice of taking the vaccine or being sacked.

That’s a tough choice, I’d call it bullying
Yeah they had the choice of protecting themselves against a nasty virus that had killed or seriously damaged their colleagues……hardly bullying

Also from the enquiry:

In an opening statement to the inquiry, Hugo Keith KC said that in its aim to protect at a population level, “the vaccine programme succeeded”. In the first nine months, the shots prevented more than 23m infections and 123,000 deaths in the UK, where more than 90% of people age 12 and over have received at least one dose. “It is beyond argument that vaccinated people were far less likely to get Covid-19 with symptoms,” Keith said. “They were even more unlikely to get serious Covid, to be admitted into hospital, or to die from it.”

"The Recovery trial, one of the most successful clinical trials in history, proved critical in the pandemic. Led by Oxford University, it showed that a readily available steroid, dexamethasone, was a lifesaver. By March 2021, the inquiry heard, dexamethasone had saved about 22,000 UK lives and 1 million lives globally".

I find that internet mystery men tend to be fantasists and loners anyway so I’d be surprised if you knew many people in the first place.
Nonsense, given that they massively underestimated the proportion of uninjected people.
