J D Vance. Munich speech.

No idea but he has been a bloody good war time leader
What does Starmer hope to achieve by sending British troops to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian army has shown itself to be formidable and well led, the Ukrainians have fought bravely and died in large numbers.

The EU is an expansionist power bloc that has expanded up to the borders of another power bloc
Oh look Vinty the Putin apologist trying to frame Russia as the victim AGAIN.

This thread is about JD Vances speech that moans about EU nations not spending on their military, yet here you are claiming EU is an “expansionist power bloc”

Oh the cognitive dissonance :ROFLMAO:

What does Starmer hope to achieve by sending British troops to Ukraine
Rhetoric to try and encourage other EU nations to step up

With USA stepping back, the U.K. finds itself as a major influence in EU…..poor Vinty must be getting an ulcer

Has he commented on the fact that the lead singer of Placebo is facing prosecution for calling the Italian PM a fascist?

Should he comment on every defamation case throughout the world simply because he advocates free speech. I suspect if the band member had left it at 'facist' he might have got away with it but adding 'piece of ***t' to the insult must surely test the legal boundaries of free speech.

Because they are part of NATO and they are going along with what Europe is doing. Trump has come into power and is saying stop the war. It is costing billions and so many innocent people are being killed. For what?

I will pretty much guarantee that it won't cost 'Murca anything at all.

Quite the opposite, in all likelihood.

There was an article in the Telegraph arguing the better way to stabilise the peace deal would be to fully arm and train the Ukrainians with USA providing air superiority.

Fillyfacts™

Ukraine have already been told that giving land away is inevitable and they will not be allowed to Join NATO.

Yes, exactly...

Well, not exactly, Zelensky has himself suggested some land could be ceded, in return for NATO protection of the remaining borders, that's NATO protection rather that NATO membership. Not saying he doesn't want membership, but in the short to medium term would settle for protection.
Then negotiations.

That seems logical as NATO is strategically designed around air superiority.

My concern would be that USA airforce would require massive air defence systems to protect aircraft, both on ground and in the air.

are the Wests airforces upto to coping with the latest drones.

I can’t help thinking our military powers are now out of date

He is a businessman not a diplomat. He will ask for way more than he actually expects to get. Seriously uncomfortable though for those who find themselves in his sights.
And you admire his bully boy tactics?

You get a lot for $500bn!

They will have learnt an enormous amount from this war. I saw the other day that UK has very quickly developed a cheap system they are sending to Ukraine.

Well, not exactly, Zelensky has himself suggested some land could be ceded
He doesn't really say ok to giving up any land,

“If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to take under the NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that we have under our control,” he told Sky News. “We need to do it fast. And then on the [occupied] territory of Ukraine, Ukraine can get them back in a diplomatic way.”

So he wants NATO protection "provided the alliance recognizes Ukraine's internationally recognized borders".

Trump "negotiators" have effectively ruled that out. Unless it's a double bluff to trick Pootin. Let's see.

They've already supplied weapons and munitions to Ukrainian troops, although providing fighter jets would cross a Russian red line since NATO forces are prohibited from the battlefield.

Eh?

After you just said this...

You are not making any sense.
What don’t you understand. Ukraine are not in NATO. America is. We and other EU countries are funding this war in fear it could escalate into something bigger. Well it already is escalating without us going over there.
