Are we witnessing, in real time, the collapse of the left wing.

That's an interesting claim. Can you provide some examples from throughout history.
Number of times Labour have been in power vs Conservatives? While history is no indicator of the future, its certainly evident that the UK tend prefer the blues, more than the reds.

It was only a matter of time imo.
Their house of lies was built on foundations of absurdity.
That form of governance could only last so long, as has been proven time and again throughout history.
Those on here that went along with the madness, will no doubt distance themselves from any involvement once it is deemed to unfashionable to carry on.
That is, in a nutshell, how devoid of any moral fibre they actually are.
meanwhile back in the real world:

Here is an article from that left wing rag the Financial Times:

Britain and the US are poor societies with some very rich people

Where would you rather live? A society where the rich are extraordinarily rich and the poor are very poor, or one where the rich are merely very well off but even those on the lowest incomes also enjoy a decent standard of living?

Lirefighter wants a society where the rich are extraordinarily rich and the poor are very poor

“Britain is a different story. While the top earners rank fifth, the average household ranks 12th and the poorest 5 per cent rank 15th. Far from simply losing touch with their western European peers, last year the lowest-earning bracket of British households had a standard of living that was 20 per cent weaker than their counterparts in Slovenia.”

I was interested in the "throughout history" comment. Which I took to be on a timescale of millennia, rather than decades.

Yes the people vote against their best interests repeatedly.

Conservatives are great con artists

It is certainly evident that the U.K. has seen a huge rise in wealth inequality over the last 45 years whilst Conservatives have been in power most of the time.

U.K. has a lower standard of living for the majority of citizens than most other Western countries.

Perhaps people like low unemployment and fewer recessions.

Oh look Motorbiking is pushing the fallacy that Tories run the economy better.

I wonder which leader created the highest unemployment since WW2…..oh yes it was Thatcher.

I wonder which party saw 14 years of stagnation…..oh yes it was the Tories

Poor old silly Motorbiking

I would take the "beginning of time" to be the point where we had a democratic process to elect representatives and throughout history, to be the point where at least the two main parties came in to existence.

Why not take it as far as 1689, the advent of Democracy in this country...as already mentioned on another thread.

I thought a much more interesting point was being made. But perhaps that is all he meant after all. Some people write in a very grandiose way.

Of course you want to clip the data from WW2, but conveniently include Thatcher, who has been out of power for 35 years.

More recent and relevant data shows a true picture.

UK included, leaders of countries are one by one after initially decrying some of his policies are now saying rock on Tommy.
Some backed Hitler as well, but not through choice.
