Diamond Core drill

Im looking at buying a new core drill.
I may need new bits as well. But for now I'll settle for a drill.


My Makita is about 10 + years old but I feel it less powerful now.


I want the best. The best hopefully means less stress on the body.

I have Milwaukee 18V but can't see a cordless cutting the Dijon.


Any recommendations?

I believe that an 18v core drill will be limited to about 40mm.

Have you tried a new core bit

I suspect my bits may be a bit knackered. They do still have teeth, but my drill seems to be a bit sluggish.

We have the marcrist DDM150 Way better than anything else I've used.
Also use there CCU 850X core bits pricey but very quick cutting and very minimal wear on diamond segments.

To be fair, @foxhole 's question was not necessarily unreasonable.

I have used a cheapo Titan SDS drill (corded) to drill 157mm cores (without the hammer action). I knew it was not the ideal tool for the job, but it sufficed (for a while).

In your original post, you said that you have a 18v Milwaukee drill. Do they make a dedicated 18v core drill? I can't see one on their site.

I recently dropped £300 on a Metabo cordless drill because I needed a cordless drill that could run at 3,000 rpm. I don't think that I would want to risk burning the unit out to drill a core hole.

Whatever you do, don't touch this heap of **** with a barge pole. Read the reviews. I managed to scrap 3 of these drilling less than 15 cores - 2 motor failures and 1 clutch failure. I gave up then and bought one of those old fashioned bullet proof Makita 8406 - the fact you can buy 20 year still working ones on eBay says it all.

Took it back to ITS this morning.

Good as gold, so I'll buy a top of the range when I have my next hole to cut.
