ULEZ was a success then?

What do they emit and why can't it be monitored?
I didn’t say they can’t be monitored but they aren’t monitored.
They produce heavy metals and other dangerous pollutants (as well as CO2 emissions which can be 10 times the stated emissions by manufacturers.)Pollutants monitored are only a proportion of those produced by vehicles.

Do you mean they emit these heavy metals and other dangerous pollutants whilst they are actually being driven. If so, which part of the drive train do they come from. Or are you meaning over the whole lifecycle from manufacture through to end of life.

Khan says "some of the cars people are driving kill children'. Khan says " pay £12 50 a day then carry on killing children". Anyone else find it a bit odd?

I hope you're not inferring such schemes are as much to do with being money grabs as they are improving public health and the environment ;)

There are still some people with smoky diesels who consider themselves entitled to spread pollution around the rest of us.

This was already reported by the Guardian several years ago. I

Your link also says "Dr Ian Mudway, senior lecturer at the school of public health at Imperial College London, said that while the research appeared sound it was premature to conclude that emissions from brake pad wear were worse than diesel exhaust."

Hybrid and electric vehicles also use regenerative electric braking, transferring the energy to the battery. I wonder what difference that makes to reducing brake pad dust.

You are making the point that vehicles with high emissions should be snatched from the road and thrown into a crusher, are you?
