EU calling for respect.

Believe what you want but you’re wrong
I believe what all the major polls say, which is the public think Brexit is a failure.

Brexit has not had majority support since around 2018

Do you believe Brexit is still widely supported?

did you not see how reform wiped the floor with labour and tories in the recent council elections

A lot of those Reform voters are people who are disillusioned with Brexit. They realise it made no positive difference. But they still believe Farage will make their lives better. Or at least make other people's worse!

Could also be a belief that the Brexit we voted for didn't turn out to the Bexit that Farage wanted. He didn't have anything to do with Brexit once the vote was cast. It could also be down to the fact that nobody trusts any of the existing party's now and want to give a completely new party a go. The whole political system as we know it is as corrupt as any Russian government.

It is all very complicated and overlapping. Pretty much the whole of the West seems to be extremely unhappy and in a complete mess. And nobody really knows why or what the answer is. In the UK, we were told the problem was the EU. Brexit made no difference. What did people expect it could bring? Now we are told that stopping a relatively small number of illegal migrants will make everyone happy.

It isn't a small number though, from a security point of view it is disasterous, from an economic point of view it is expensive. We are a tiny island and do not have the infrastructure or the housing to rehome people on this scale. Hence all sat in hotels for years. This isn't about racism as many like to believe, it is what damage is being caused to our life as we get squeezed tighter from both an economic strain and from our infrastructure being overloaded.

Like those who voted Labour because they were bored with the Tory leadership changes.

I understand the costs and the problems. But if we managed to cut it to zero tomorrow, I honestly don't think anyone would notice an improvement in their daily lives. Like with Brexit. I think there are other much bigger reasons why people in the West are so unhappy. Nobody really knows why.

Nobody really knows why

You said this before, and I responded before. And you agreed.

The boomers are the wealthiest generation in history.

The gravy train had to derail sometime.

The easy times are coming to an end.

Hence the discontent.

Dig a bit deeper, and ask why the boomers are so wealthy (compared to those who preceded and followed them).

Post-war investment boom.
Job security.
Final salary pensions.
Affordable housing.
Free education, including to higher level.

Affordable housing is a biggie : the house that was affordable on a single salary is now unachievable on two.
The thing that helped the boomer become "wealthy" conversely made the younger generation poorer, and more disillusioned.

I think you would.

A lot of organised crime is funded by people trafficking plus the cost on infrastructure and services.
