If she had been there for a number of years as you claimed, then she would’ve had an expired visa and thus an overstayer, but you said she was caught travelling with the wrong visa.

Either way, it’s obvious if you don’t have a valid visa and are unable to obtain a new one, you have to leave. That’s normal.

What is not normal is going to your final citizenship appointment, finding there’s one piece of minor paperwork missing from a decade ago and suddenly being detained, handcuffed, shackled and thrown in jail. DO YOU ACCEPT THAT IS NOT THE ACTIONS OF A NORMAL DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY?

Here’s a tip for you, when you have zero knowledge stop pretending. You have no clue about multiple entry visas and how they are extended. It’s evident from your post.

No I don’t think it’s good behaviour for a state to lock someone up who has a minor issue with his green card restrictions relating to his marriage just as I don’t think it’s appropriate to deport someone who’s been living in a country legally, married a national and popped to the US to visit family.

I would imagine that within ICE they have discretion. That is usually the case in these type of bureaucracies. In fact, the article says they were told it would have been different under Biden. Of course, we only have their word for that. But there are other articles quoted saying that ICE agents are being told to take it to the max, which seems to show they have discretion.
