Imagine the DWP or other government agency, making a mistake, perhaps someone with the same name or someone who is the victim of Identity theft and them helping themselves to your money. Yep this law allows it.
Imagine you not having the Money for their mistake, they can ban you from driving. yep this law allows it.

No requirement for you to be found guilty of fraud, no requirement for them to prove their case.

Postoffice scandal all over again.

bad law.

Its like the VIP Covid corridor in reverse.

Judge, jury and executioner, just like the post office scandal.

Government agencies make mistakes as we know.

zero protection offered, by HRA/ECHR, but I'm glad it makes you feel safe.

Rubbish.

From the first page of your very Bill:

EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Baroness Sherlock has made the following statement under section 19(1)(a) of the Human Rights Act 1998:
In my view the provisions of the Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill are compatible with the Convention rights.

You're talking nonsense.

The statement is one of compatibility - nothing more.

If you think the HRA/ECHR provides protection, then please share it.

I find some of his stuff a bit long winded. But his analysis is bang on.

Notch and Brig, will be along shortly to say he's clueless.

Not in the slightest.

If it did get through though, don't you think that the HRA and or ECHR wouldn't hole it below the waterline anyway?

he started his channel as barrister offering advice until he realised he could turn into a right wing grifter by appealing to Reform voters

Is that so they can claw back the couple of quid some people got as a carer when they were actually too filthy rich by 2s 6d.

TBH I thought they could do all that already. Haven't read it , but it;'s about seizing incorrectly aquired assets, right?
