Hi
I have a sideboard to dispose. Charities, local groups ...etc. are not interested.

Two options left:
1. To the tip; which I am against.
2. A creative idea to transform to something of use. Any suggestions?
Or the BBC program can't remember the name.

Transform for your use or someone else's?

Looks like the two bays in the middle are a drawer above a cupboard, the two end bays are just cupboards? Got some pics with the cupboard doors open?

the last one i converted was to an indoor gineapig activity centre and hutch

other adaptions without much change is beer/coctail/spirits cabinet including a mini fridge
or converted to a workshop/garage position with sacrificial top to accommodate the oily dirty top use

How easy would it be to make a 2 door 2 drawer sideboard then paint it? Keeping the middle and deleting the 2 end bays.

I presume it is solid hardwood/stained softwood and not particle board. If that was mine. I'd dismantle it down to its component parts and add them to my stock of flat wood for future use as and when needed. I only dump particle board except sizable sheets and I keep those for other projects. I was raised to the words; waste not want not.

I was thinking the same, keeping as panels to use in the future. BUT not sure what it is. It's v heavy, think either mdf or ply veneered.

Paint it in duck egg blue, stick it on Vinted for £1500
It will take me ages, so much DIY to do now before winter. I did think about paint the whole thing but didn't know there is such market for it.
Is duck egg blue in fashion?

I may go for 2 door 2 drawer sideboard and use it my self.

What primer and paint types is recommended?

If you know that program "money for nothing", you see all manner of old stuff ponced up and sold for £1500.
Well maybe £400

IMHO not worth the effort, but these things never cease to amaze me. Look a the Etsy crowd's Upcycled furniture sites.
Look at what something new would cost.

Have you looked online for those ever-so-helpful youtubers ? A few searches with key words usually bring up loads in the space..

You need to determine what the current finish is. Often those kind of units have a spray on wax finish. I discovered that the hard way. A contractor dropped off a bureaux/table. I sanded it, applied waterbased primer and then soon discovered that it would not pass the "fingernail test". I had to sand away all of the existing finish.

To sand away the finish added about 5 hours.

It might be more prudent to give it away... or set fire to it.

Only you can answer that.

Only you know what tools and workshop facilities you have.

Only you know what skills & experience you have.

Only you can see the construction details to the level necessary to determine what will happen if you cut it into three.

Only you know how creative you are.

I would get it on Marketplace, freecycle is rubbish. I'd be very surprised if someone wouldn't grab it pretty quick
