Hello all
I’ve recently started seeing a slowdown of flow in the water and started troubleshooting and discovered these yellowish resin beads stuck and blocking at the filters for taps, showers and washing machine.

I’ve read this is due to my water softener which is a monarch midi.

I have since cleared and put the softener in bypass.

Does this mean the softener is done for and needs replacement?

Also any concerns on impact on a unvented cylinder?

Thanks

You could speak to monarch about repair but probably better to replace whole thing.

As for cylinder, you may have to keep clearing filters for a while until all beads have been flushed out... You could do this while it's on bypass as some may have to get through the UV still.

Many thanks. So just keep clearing the filters on taps etc. anything I need to do on the unvented cylinder or would that just pass through?

Might have to clean out the control group for the UV. They have a filter in them but if you're getting beads at the taps, it seems that they're getting past this!
Unless the cold is not balanced and does not come from the control group.

Post a photo of the control group/combi valve for the UV.

So... If the cold supply doesn't go through the control group, then you might only be getting beads from the cold supply at the taps indices.

The hot feed would go through the control group and may be collecting beads at that filter.

Wow superstar. Many thanks for this.

See pic of the cold water group valve going into the cylinder

Also Any recommendation for new water softener?

Some of the Gledhills have a internal air bubble with a plastic baffle (you will have no external, usually white, expansion vessel), the plastic baffle often breaks up, expecially on the Megaflos, with results like you are getting, just ensure that the "bits" are resin and not plastic.

Yeah deffo resin annoying so small it sticks to my hand even when trying to wash off. Nasty stuff

That's balanced so should be fine.
Have your hot outlets slowed up at all?
If not, then it must be clearing the control group.
Nope hot water and cold now perfect since I cleared. I actually had to clear again today so left the filters off for now with the softener on bypass
