Hi
I am replacing bathroom fan, only have neutral and switched line supplies, don't have permanent live. Can I use fan with timer, leaving permanent live terminal blank; to be used as standard fan?

You need to connect your switched live to both PL & SL on the fan.

Then it will work like a non-timed standard fan.

My understanding is that the switched live is supplied from a permanent live at the ceiling rose so I would try the wiring you suggest first

Yes, it will work as a standard fan, but no timer feature. To use the timer, you do need that permanent live, which you should be able to source, at the ceiling rose.

Or replace the fan with a 12V one where the 3-core only has to run to a much more easy location for the transformer, and the existing fan cable retained.
