Multifuel stove back boiler warm

Hi, I have an indirect vented heating system with a multifuel stove with back boiler. During the summer I use the solar panels to power the immersion to heat the water, however, the stove gets hot. My question is, is this normal or is this wasting energy and if there is anything I can do to fix this. My plumber tells me this is normal, but hot water doesnt stay warm for long and I'm guessing the heat is lost through the stove?

It is not normal, and yes it's wasting energy, as some of the energy put in to heat the hot water is being dispersed through the stove.

More details required as to the rest of the system - if the circuit from back boiler/stove to hot water cylinder pumped, and how is that pump activated?
Is the cylinder above the level of the back boiler, at the same level, or below?

As far as i can see, the stove is connected to the pipe that goes up to the vent tank in the attacked, so would a back flow valve prevent hot water flowing down to the stove. Im not attempting this job myself, I will get another plumber, I would just like to know what im talking about

Do you have a 3 port motorised valve , live in a bungalow or as asked in first reply, the cylinder is similar level to the stove ?
Also, is the wood stove the only appliances connected to the heating system
